This loft reinterprets stylish living through precious materials and major designer pieces

When Emil Humbert and Christophe Poyet, founders of the Monaco-based design studio Humbert & Poyet, first stepped inside this Tribeca loft, they were taking on their first residential project in New York City. It was a fitting choice, as the two designers, who trained in France and whose work appeared on the cover of ELLE Decor’s January/February 2017 issue, found the home distinctly American.

The apartment offered what Humbert describes as “a dream for a European.” With views of old water towers and rooftops, as well as an elevator opening directly into the residence, the loft embodied what the duo considered “classic New York.”

In the living room, chairs by Maison Leleu are paired with a table by Tom Faulkner. A pendant light by Nicolas Aubagnac in collaboration with Maison Delisle hangs above them. Sconces by Humbert & Poyet for Maison Pouenat.
