Overview
Born in Niort, France in 1955, Richard Texier is a painter and sculptor whose multidisciplinary practice spans over four decades. Now based in Paris, Texier has developed a singular creative approach rooted in what he calls the “Nomadic Atelier,” a roaming studio methodology through which he creates work in diverse environments across the globe. This nomadism reflects his belief that atmosphere, landscape, and lived experience imprint themselves onto the artistic process.
Trained in both architecture and fine arts, Texier holds a thesis in architecture and a doctorate in the visual arts. This academic foundation informs his expansive exploration of natural forces, cosmology, and the invisible structures that shape our world. Drawing from quantum physics—particularly the concept of entanglement—he investigates ideas of interconnection, elasticity, and transformation, culminating in his theoretical framework of “elastogénèse,” which examines the perpetual metamorphosis of matter.
Working primarily in patinated bronze, stainless steel, and cast metal, Texier creates sculptural forms that bridge the poetic and the scientific. His materials serve as conduits for movement and tension, embodying the dynamic energies that animate his broader inquiry into time, space, and the evolution of form.
Texier’s work has been exhibited internationally in numerous institutions and fairs, including FIAC in Paris (1982), Galerie Atelier 14 in New York (2002), and the Shanghai Meishu Guan in China (2005). His artistic journey has taken him throughout Japan, Russia, Italy, the United States, Hong Kong, Belgium, and beyond, reflecting the global reach of both his travels and his philosophical investigations.
