Hamptons Luxury: In Water Mill, a Modern Retreat Puts Wellness at the Center of Design

June 4, 2026

A young family’s vision reshaped this Water Mill estate into a contemporary Hamptons retreat where architecture, art and wellness exist in quiet conversation. The most compelling homes in the Hamptons are often the ones that feel inseparable from their setting. At the Rose Hill residence in Water Mill, designed by Pembrooke & Ives, architecture, interiors and landscape exist in quiet alignment, creating a retreat defined less by spectacle than by atmosphere.

A sculptural living room features an oil-rubbed bronze fireplace and a Calacatta Borghini hearth, complemented by a rug from The Rug Company, a ROBICARA coffee table and a Ritz Upholstery sofa. Seating includes white armchairs by RoWin Atelier from Twenty First Gallery and black armchairs by Charles Kalpakian sourced through STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN, paired with side tables by Massimo Castagna and Ugo Cacciatori from DDC, Romo window treatments via Workroom Services and artwork by Jerry J. Adams.

      RoWin'Atelier

RoWin'atelier was founded in 2011 by architects Frédéric Rochette and Hervé Winkler, emerging from a cross-disciplinary approach that merges architecture, design, and art craftsmanship. Their journey has been  driven by a deep exploration of space in all its dimensions, where the scale of architecture is just as important as that of furniture. For them, attention to detail and impeccable execution are essential, in line with a strong interest for how objects blend into their environment. Every piece is designed as a true architectural element.

Time plays a central role in their work, inseparable from the pursuit of beauty, precision, and fine craftsmanship. It is within this careful, measured approach that true luxury resides: in the excellence of the gesture, the accuracy of proportions, and the depth of materials. Based in Paris, RoWin’Atelier is a transdisciplinary firm mainly focused on architecture, interior design, furniture design and art direction. Their creative process emphasizes drawing and writing, and asserts artisanal technique, research, innovation and imagination.

Frédéric Rochette received an architecture degree from the Ecole Nationale d’Architecture Paris Val de Seine, and Hervé Winkler attended the École Nationale supérieure d’Architecture de Versailles where he received a dual degree in both architecture and interior design.
