Overview
Artist and designer Jean de Piépape is renowned for blending an aesthete’s attention to lighting with a cultivated use of authentic and structured materials to create inviting yet clean volumes. For two decades, he developed a practice particularly well versed in the interior design needs of elegant private apartments, au courant office spaces, and prestigious art galleries. His work with preeminent art galleries as distinct in character one from the other as Carpenters Workshop, Dansk Møbelkunst, and De Jonckheere Monaco, to name a few, is a testament to the ease with which he honors every client’s identity while maintaining the authorship he is so remarkable for. Often working closely with a clientele as intent on excellence as it is on standing out, exhibition displays bearing Jean de Piépape’s signature have accompanied distinguished art connoisseurs including the gallery owners François Laffanour, Demisch Danant, Philippe Perrin, Avi Keitelman or Pierre Marie Giraud to international art fairs including Art Basel, DESIGN Miami, TEFAF… Jean de Piépape’s is also a seasoned scenography designer regularly sought by well established artists such as Kristin McKirdy for her exhibit at la Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres or Maria Pergay for her exhibit at Demisch Danant’s newly opened gallery in New York. His perennial and worldly approach has delineated the works of artists whether it be Bob Wilson, Charlotte Perriand, Ron Arad or Ettorre Sottsass. Jean de Piépape’s one-off or small series objects/pieces are showcased at high-caliber exhibitions such as AD Collections and Révélations.
