Twenty First Gallery is pleased to present an exclusive group exhibition curated by world-renowned architect and decorator Robert Couturier. Admired for his command of fine art and design, Robert Couturier will create a series of vignettes showcasing the works of French artists exclusively represented in the U.S. through Twenty First Gallery.
The event marks the first exhibit collaboration between Robert Couturier and Twenty First Gallery founder Renaud Vuaillat. As French born, longtime residents of New York City, the two formed an immediate connection through their mutual passion for continental style and the savoir faire of contemporary French design. The vignettes will feature highly collectible pieces by French makers and artists, including Francois Salem, François Corbeau, and the gallery debut of Farfelus Farfadets.
Shopping the gallery’s exquisite offerings of sculptural furnishings and artisanal decor, Mr. Couturier hand selected notable works by renowned designers Herbert Le Gall, Erwan Boulloud and Valentine Loellmann to be placed amongst lively new pieces and artists on display for the first time in the gallery. Debut works include: Ontario a limited edition sofa dressed in mohair velvet by Mattia Bonetti, Valentine, a mirror made of glass, metal and paper mâché by Farfelus Farfadets, Aro, a hand signed and numbered chair featuring blued iron and horse and cow leathers by Cristian Mohaded, Flora, an unique screen of brass, resin and flowers by Marcin Rusak, and Voile, a glazed ceramic floor lamp, signed and dated by Francois Salem. Luxurious hand knotted carpets by internationally acclaimed Fort Street Studio will accompany the setting, including silk and wool rugs, Leaves shown in dark navy and Peak shown in ochre and a round version of Allium shown in blackberry.
